Faculty - Faculty will have and exhibit a strong personal relationship with the Lord.
Faculty will work an extended school year: 180 days of student contact and additional days devoted to professional
growth and curriculum development (at least 20 are recommended). Faculty will keep and submit professional portfolios. Incoming
faculty will enter at a level of Graduate or Instructor based on their experience. Levels of Teacher,
Master Teacher and Senior Master Teacher will be reached through experience and
portfolio advancement. Salary schedules will reflect experience and portfolio advancement and will
be commensurate with local salaries. (Intentional Schools do not take a philosophy of building pyramids
on the backs of the workers.) Teachers will be expected to teach classes, attend meetings and
perform a school day duty each day. They will be expected to work in an after school capacity
two-thirds of the year as part of their contract. After school opportunities
include sports, arts and administration.
How's it feel for teachers -->
Team teaching - Students in class together will share the same teachers. These teachers
will meet three times a week to discuss the students. Team structure will allow the growth of the
school while maintaining a reasonable community for the students. Each team will have five core instructors.
Advisor system - Teachers will be responsible to mentor and monitor the progress of a reasonable number of
students. This responsibility is actually lighter in an Intentional School because of the parent's
larger responsibility. Advisor responsibilities include: meeting with students, acting as a school contact for
parents, encouraging the student, knowing what's happening in his/her life, and tracking
the student's portfolio of work and progress.
